Composite pipe technology from 1920
|
|
Sabie museum, South Africa. I have been working in the composite (GRP) pipe business since 1992 and noticed this pipe with great interest. This is a sample of the pipe imported from USA to water the citrus trees ca. 1920. The woodwork is made the same a barrel is made. The steel wire gives it extra strength to handle pressure. Today we use FibreGlass for reinforcement and easily make mass production pipes with a continues process at speeds of 30-50 meter per hours and for pressures up to 32 bar.
